Israel takes control of Christian area in Lebanon

ALONG THE ISRAEL-LEBANON BORDER (CNN) -- As cease-fire negotiations appeared to stall Thursday, Israeli forces took control of the largely Christian town of Marjeyoun in southern Lebanon, CNN has learned.

Iraq violence: from bad to worse

Israel Air Force warplanes dropped leaflets over downtown Beirut on Thursday, threatening a "painful and strong" response to Hezbollah rocket attacks and warning residents of three southern suburbs to evacuate immediately.
